We cannot rely on the neofascist-dominated party or Corporate Party Lite to bring us a fair, caring, and sustainable society . . .
Electing third-party candidates can be useful in creating what it takes, but the billionaire class won’t allow us to govern. Yet there is hope. What’s required is taking charge of our destinies by building a massive, nonviolent movement for a Second American Revolution.
People must learn that the system absorbs conventional reform efforts without really changing. If elected, I would support that as a not-so-undercover agent, reporting back to you all I see about the dynamics of governmental decision making. I will describe the pressures that confuse, co-opt, and corrupt good people who enter politics. Thus the incumbent, a fairly progressive Democrat, voted for AB715, enacted to control what schools teach about Palestine, on its sponsors’ assurances that later legislation would “clean it up.” (AOC: “When you’re on the inside, the word is always ‘compromise.’”)
About me: I graduated from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and Stanford Law and represented death-row and other prisoners on appeal. In my youth I worked in factories and on highways, and in 2016 I joined water protectors at Standing Rock. I am author of Return of the Light: A Political Fable in Which the American People Reclaim Their Country and Blessed Disillusionment: Letting Go of What Cannot Save Us, Turning to What Can, the latter endorsed by Cornel West and others.
